A couple of years ago I wrote a blog called A Better Facebook in a naive belief that I might actually be able to create a better space on what I saw as a polluted platform. I have always believed that there are good aspects to Facebook, but they are increasingly difficult to find, especially in the midst of toxic politics and cultural anger that makes my newsfeed feel like a neglected Superfund site.
After a great deal of lament and frustration, I finally reached the conclusion that Facebook will never be better, mostly because it is not profitable for Facebook to be better. So this new website is an attempt to do some of what I spoke about in my blog. I would like the forum to be a place where people can respectfully share thoughts and feedback on matters of faith and life and gain insights from others. The hope is that this would not just be a place just to feel good in the status quo, but instead to be a place where we are challenged to live our faith better, whether that means affirming what we already believe or being challenged to rethink ideas that we have held on to for too long.
I invite you to share your take on scripture, articles, blogs, podcasts, or your own ponderings that have challenged you in your faith and to participate in the contributions of others. I won't want this to be a "safe" space. I want this forum to be covered under the broad umbrella of Christian faith, but not necessarily any particular version of it. The idea is not to cater to a particular ideology, but to "consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds" and to "be transformed by the renewing of your mind" so that we "will be able to test and approve what God's will is - his good, pleasing and perfect will."
Enjoy using the forum!
